We are proud to use the A Beka program in our Developmental Kindergarten Class. Our class is broken down into four sections:
Language Arts The children will learn phonics and reading, where the children will learn letter recognition and sounds. At the conclusion of Developmentail Kindergarten they will be reading mini books. They will learn how to form their letters and memorize 28 poems and finger plays. Their language development and listening skills will include, color words, shapes, animals, transportation, countries, manners and science.
Numbers The children will learn number recognition and counting 1-100, along with number concepts 1-20 and simple addition.
Music & Arts Your child will have a great time learning fun songs and enhancing their fine motor skills, while cutting, drawing, painting and gluing!
Bible During Bible time your child will learn about major people from the Bible, including Noah, Samuel, David, Jesus and many more. In addition we have chapel once a week. Every Tuesday Life Christian Church's Children Director leads a child-friendly chapel service. Where they get to experience Praise and Worship and an engaging Bible Story.
In addition to the above areas we also are building a moral foundation within the children, using the Proactive Parenting Program. We instill the following themes:
- Courteousness
- Kindness
- Forgiveness
- Believing the best
- Thankfulness
- Self-control
- Respect
- Perseverance
- Courage
These above themes will help your child to be socially ready for Kindergarten, because they will have the necessary skills to interact with the teacher and other children. In addition these themes will prepare them to be life long learners as they will have the skills of self-control, perseverance and others needed to succeed in school.
